A little of this…and a little of that

Yesterday was perfect for a getaway boat ride with our friends. We try to get out with them at least once each season for a picnic lunch somewhere along the Hudson River.

We pulled up and anchored in a little cove…in the shade….had lunch, a few drinks and a few laughs. Good times.

I picked up SuziBlu‘s new book…Mixed Media Girls at my local Barnes and Noble. I like SuziBlu…and her quirky videos…she’s real…you can just tell. I also like her art, and her style. Here’s a few practice drawings that I did:

I’m pleased with myself, if I do say so 🙂 The girl in the forefront is done with cheap oil pastels and the girl in the background expensive soft pastels by Rembrandt. The next picture is done with cheap crayola pencils. Not as pleased with the pencils…not even close….but hey, it’s a start 🙂

Next are two stretched canvases that I plan on hooking together to make a “book”. I’m inspired to do that because of one I’ve seen over at ArtfullyMusing. I love visiting Laura Carson’s blog….her creations are gorgeous and she’s so very generous with her knowledge as an artist. I also have been looking at Christy Tomlinson‘s YouTube videos…she’s another artist that I’ve been smitten with. It’s Christy’s techniques that you see on my canvases…or my take on her techniques.

I haven’t linked to WIP Mondays in awhile…think I’ll do that to this post…because I actually have something to show 🙂 As always, I appreciate you stopping by my blog…and until next time…..Peace.
