Sunday July 12

I don’t think this has ever happened before….two posts in one day! Over the last few days, my husband, my daughter, and the dog, have all been stung by bees. All three stings happened in the same are of our backyard. Friday afternoon, I had noticed more than the usual number of bees flying about…so I stood up on our deck, and began watching them. Sure enough…they had started a nest in the ground!

My husband got the pitchfork out, and quickly turned over the sod. After they calmed down a bit, he started spraying some hornet spray at them and the hole in the ground. I was brave enough to take a picture or two from up on the deck. The bee in the middle is flying…I believe the two on each side are dead.

Besides the ornery bees….there are some pretty flowers blooming at the moment. Some are perennials…the others are annuals:

Okay…enough of the flowers…. Here’s my pretend entry for the Gallery Idol Challenge that’s due tomorrow. The round calls for a card that incorporates items from Around the House. I stamped the image onto glossy cardstock and used my Marvy brush markers to color it. You can’t tell from the photo, but I used pop dots on three of the sunflowers to give the image some depth. I think the mesh behind the cardstock looks like window screen..don’t you?

Hmmm….I seem to be an awful lot of stamping lately, have you noticed?

Crafty goodness

Okay…so I’m back from my two week whirlwind vacation. At the beginning of September…my sister, hubby and I flew into Salt Lake City, Utah…rented a car..and drove 3,700 miles! Yikes! We drove through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota…through the panhandle of Nebraska, and then back to Salt Lake City…where we flew home from. We actually averaged 370 miles a day, because the last three days of our vacation were spent in Salt Lake City. My sister is big into geneology, so she spent her free time at the Morman Library. She was one happy camper. “They only charge 10 cents a copy!” I, too was a happy camper. I was in the scrapbooking capital of the world! Guess what I did…yup…I went shopping :) Sending out a shout out to Paper Creations @ 1140 E. Brickyard ….and to Mom & Me Scrapbooking at 2199 E 3300 South. Staff at both of those stores were very friendly, and helpful. Both stores were packed with crafty goodness. I spent $200. between the two! I must have bought close to 100 sheets of patterned paper, a Melissa Frances kit, Melissa Frances frames, buttons, chipboard, 7 gypsies goodies, rubons…die cuts…MME, Prima, Daisy D’s, journaling tags, you name it, I prolly bought it! Here are pictures of my newest stash of stuff:

The next store I hit was We-R-Memory Keepers…well…not really a “store” per se…but the outlet area at their Headquarters. I purchased a few paper kits, packages of chipboard, a package of eyelets and snaps, and a 6×6 D-ring binder. I think that cost another $50….boy…I went to town..didn’t I?

Okay…I’m off to make the “rounds” of inspiration on the net. Maybe I’ll stop and read your blog…who knows! Thanks for stopping at mine.

Just Inspire Me

I’m back from my vacation…and what a pleasant surprise! Bob and Julee of IMCK have decided to continue to keep the site open! Yay! They won’t be selling kits or anything; but it’ll be a place to hang out and share ideas, talk, and add to the gallery. I’m so happy. I’ve been going to InpireMeCardKits for over a year now, and I truly liked it there. The girls there were always nice (and creative too). They always made me feel welcome. It wasn’t too busy. Sometimes I find busy bulletin boards can be overwhelming…and I can’t keep up. When Dannie decided to not re-open I felt like I had lost a friend. The name is going to change to Just Inspire Me…but all the old messages and the gallery is to remain as it was (I think). E-mails went out to all the folks getting the newsletter stating that there is going to be a re-opening celebration on Tuesday, September 30 at 9pm (EST). Why don’t you stop by, sign up and join me…I’ll be there. That way, you can find out for yourself how nice everyone is. You don’t have to be a seasoned scrapper…or card maker. Stop by and join in the fun. Tell em Rett sent ya!
