Collectibles?
I haven’t blogged in a few days because…well…I don’t have anything to say. I still don’t have anything to say….so I thought I’d share an oddity about myself with you. When one hears the word “collectible” it may bring to mind postage stamps…classic cars…toys…furniture…works of art…pretty much anything can be a “collectible”…right? Well…I myself have had a few collections over the years…I’ve collected teddy bears (mostly Boyd’s), magnets, matchbooks…and my latest is, condoms. Yup…condoms.
I’ve had to put most of my cute little bears away for now…I’ve been using the chest where I displayed them for other things at the moment….so I’ve only captured the few that are upstairs in my bedroom at the bottom of the bed.
I just went to the desk drawer where I keep the matches …and there aren’t as many there as I remember. I must have used them up over the years, and not put them back when I was done with them. Even as I take the picture of my condom collection…I know I had more than are pictured….for instance…I remember being in a dance club in Fort Lauderdale Florida…and buying a condom earring in the Ladies room. For the life of me, I can’t imagine where it went to. Hmmm….both my son and daughter have their ears pierced…I’ll have to ask both of them the next time I see them if they helped themselves! Funny story….I was in a Ladies room somewhere…and I noticed two condom machines on the wall. One machine said Condoms $1…the other machine said Generic Condoms 50 cents. Curiosity got the best of me, and I dug a buck fifty out of my pocket and inserted the proper amount in each slot. The dollar condom wasn’t anything special…but I got into such a fit of laughter when the fifty cent one dropped down the chute… The packaging was black and white…typical of “generic” products…but the wording on it would have had me peeing my pants if I hadn’t just emptied my bladder! The condom said: Generic Condom….for Cheap Fuckers….LOL. I’ve told that story so many times…to so many friends…that the outer plastic cover of my generic condom has worn out.

Blah Blah Blah
I didn’t sleep well last night…my mind was working overtime, and wouldn’t shut up. I really shouldn’t drink coffee after dinner. I think I finally fell asleep at 5am…and woke up at 9. I almost blogged during this zombie like state…but I’m glad I didn’t. Things are much brighter this morning. I’m glad I controlled myself, rather than letting self doubt and worry take over.
My daughter’s roller derby team’s picture is on the front page of one of our local newspapers this morning. What a pleasant surprise. There it is…in the lower left corner…under “Local News”. She plays on a local women’s roller derby team.
She goes by the name of Big Headed Honky. Her “number” is 59 1/4 centimeters….is that a lot for the circumference of a head? Anyway…the team she rolls on is the Albany All Stars Roller Derby League. They’ve been practicing for just over a year, and 2008 is their “Inaugural Season” debut.
They play their bouts on a flat track, and pretty much follow WFTDA rules. WFTDA=Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. They have chosen to not become members of that association though. You can learn more about WFTDA here. The Albany All Stars also has a “travel team” which consists of select members of both the Department of Public Hurts and the Skateomasochists. The travel team is called the Empire Skate Troopers. They’re looking for a graphic designer to come up with a logo for their team. Of course if they pick your design, the only thing you receive is the Empire Skate Troopers undying gratitude, a shout out on their hand out program, and a season pass to their bouts. If that doesn’t bother you…check out their call out for a design here. Who knows…maybe if they pick your design, you’ll become famous. Of course I’m saying that with tongue in cheek…but hey…ya never know!

*Title Goes Here*
Each time I write in this blog, I have a hard time coming up with a title. I suppose it’s because I’m not really talking about anything in particular. *Title Goes Here* will have to stay there until I can come up with something better.
Yesterday was my grand niece’s sweet sixteen birthday. We were invited over to her house last night for pizza and cake. I ate a few Tums about 2am this morning…yuck.

Of course I made a card for her. It wasn’t quite as nice as the HP laptop her mom gave her…but she appreciated it just the same. I’m sure the greenbacks I put inside the card helped.
I went to work today…it was a slow go because we had an ice storm overnight. One of the disadvantages of living in the northeast USA…I suppose it’s one of the advantages too…because the ice coating on everything looks so pretty with the sun reflecting off it.
I’m surprised that I even went to work this morning….I’m not crazy about skating to work…and I don’t like bumper cars. I spent the day training a new employee. I was training her how to do my job….I guess the higher ups are preparing for my retirement…which is still two years down the line. Hmmm…maybe they plan on getting rid of me. *Yikes* Naw…I’m kidding. The day went by really fast, and tomorrow is Friday already! I love Fridays.
